What is Easter, and how is it celebrated?
The most important Christian holiday is Easter. Three days after his crucifixion and death, it commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It is believed that this ancient tradition of using eggs as a symbol of new life and rebirth evolved into an Easter celebration. Eating an egg on Easter Sunday was a real treat because, in the medieval era, eating eggs during Lent, the 40 days leading up to Easter, was forbidden.
